Agape heals

The time has come for Agape to add another superstar to the team as we continue to change the world with horses.

This is a brand new, just created, we-need-it-because-we’re-growing position. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) is responsible for the development and execution of all marketing and communications strategies to grow the base of philanthropic support and increase public awareness of Agape. The MCM also builds and manages brand identity and all aspects of marketing communication to raise awareness of the organization and its programs throughout all counties in Central Indiana that we serve. We are in need of a dedicated individual ready to take charge of developing, executing and maintaining marketing strategies to help us continue to meet our goals.

We enjoy coming to work; we love what we do. We love working with each other; we love our donors, riders and families, volunteers, and of course, our horses. We’re motivated by a larger vision, a purpose that continually pushes us to be better and grow stronger. We’re looking for someone that can not only do the job detailed below but share that same passion and drive. Someone who is humble and hungry to create amazing, life-changing experiences for others through partnering with horses. Your ability to lead, develop, cultivate relationships, and execute on a plan will be pretty important. The ability to effectively communicate our mission and tell our story to engage donors to partner with us is critical. We need a highly self-directed, outcomes-oriented, team builder and leader (that’s a lot of buzz words) committed to Agape’s mission and vision.

Agape will be a culture that views philanthropy as a values-based process where donors invest in Agape when they feel compelled to give because their interests match our needs. Here, philanthropy is inspired by values; relationships uncover shared values; fundraising provides opportunities to act on those values. It is measured by impact (what it does), not by amount (how much). At Agape, we believe that everyone – including donor champions, staff, Board members, volunteers, and clients – is an ambassador of donor-focused relationships and an advocate for mission-focused results.

Fundraising at Agape is: the right person asking – the right prospective donor – for the right gift – for the right program – at the right time – in the right way.

Agape has adapted the following philanthropic values from Mission Increase Foundation. Agape holds a biblical worldview and these values steer our view on development toward a genuine understanding of fundraising as a partnership with donors.

  • Every act of giving is first and foremost a statement about the faithfulness of God.
  • Transformational giving is based on the abundance and trustworthiness of God, not a theology of scarcity.
  • It is better to give than to receive.
  • Champions connect with Agape for the purpose of enhancing their mutual impact on the cause, not primarily for the purpose of funding organizations to impact the cause on their own.
  • Giving is not the process but rather the result of the process of a champion being comprehensively coached to share the cause effectively within his or her sphere of influence.
  • Giving is learned, not latent in champions.
  • Champions connect with each other and with Agape not according to the amount of their giving but by the degree of comprehensive personal ownership they are exhibiting in the cause.
  • Fund raising to us is stewarding meaningful relationships with our donors whose giving decisions are intentional and life-enhancing.
  • Everyone’s a storyteller – able to communicate our case clearly, simply, and emotionally about Agape and our impact.
  • Everyone is a fundraiser – seeking, cultivating, and deepening relationships with champions who invest in our mission.
