Equine-Assisted Services forindividuals
Here at Agape, we teach riding and horsemanship skills to meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive goals of everyone we serve.
Therapeutic Riding
Therapeutic Riding is weekly mounted horseback riding for the purpose of contributing positively to the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of people with special needs through the teaching of horsemanship and riding skills. Lessons are taught by PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors. Lessons are most often groups of 4 individuals lasting one hour once each week.
OT/PT Speech Services
Agape partners with Ascension St. Vincent Pediatric Rehabilitation Services to provide OT, PT, and Speech services to their patients with the help of our horses through what is commonly referred to as “Hippotherapy”. Sessions are led by licenced OT, PT, and Speech professionals from Ascension St. Vincent Pediatric Rehabilitation. Agape horses, staff, and volunteers support the St. Vincent Ascension therapists in the therapy sessions.
