Every year, supporters gather on the golf course for a day of friendly competition, connection, and fun. But for Agape, Par for the Horse is about much more than golf.
Held on Thursday, June 11, at Plum Creek Golf Club, Par for the Horse brought together 81 golfers as well as sponsors, volunteers, and community leaders for a day of fun with a purpose.
The annual outing provided a way for individuals, businesses, and community leaders to come together in support of Agape’s mission: helping children, adults, veterans, first responders, and others build confidence, independence, and connection through Equine Assisted Services (EAS).
Each registration, sponsorship, and donation helped create opportunities that extend far beyond the fairway.
Community support makes the mission possible
Agape currently serves clients all across Central Indiana, providing a variety of services that use the unique partnership between humans and equines to create meaningful growth and healing.
Events like Par for the Horse play an important role in sustaining that work.
Support from participants and sponsors helps fund a variety of programs and services, including:
- Therapeutic riding lessons
- Equine-assisted learning programs
- Mental health services
- Programs for veterans and first responders
- Scholarships for families in need
- Care and support for Agape’s therapy horses
Just as importantly, these partnerships help expand awareness of Agape’s mission and strengthen the community surrounding riders, clients, volunteers, and families.
As Agape continues planning for its future home on the historic Stony Creek property, community investment remains more important than ever. Events like Par for the Horse help build long-term sustainability and ensure Agape can continue serving individuals and families for generations to come.
A look back at the day
Par for the Horse was designed to be an enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels while keeping the focus on the people and programs they are supporting.
The day began with registration, lunch, networking opportunities, and a chance to meet some very special members of the Agape team.
Then, attendees stopped by the Mini Pavilion, sponsored by J.P. Morgan, to take photos with Agape’s miniature horses before heading out for the 1:00 p.m. shotgun start at Plum Creek Golf Club. Participants also visited Agape’s new stable archway and photo backdrop, creating another fun way to capture memories from the day.
Throughout the afternoon, golfers enjoyed contests, refreshments, and time to connect with fellow supporters who share a passion for making a difference in the community.
Following the outing, everyone gathered for dinner, awards, sponsor recognition, and stories that highlight the impact of Agape’s programs. It was an opportunity to celebrate not only a great day on the course, but also the lives being changed through Equine-Assisted Services.
We were also excited to share the preliminary designs for the Stony Creek project, giving attendees a glimpse into Agape’s future vision and the impact this expansion will have on the individuals and families we serve.
More than just another charity golf outing
There is no shortage of charity golf events throughout the year, but Par for the Horse offers something unique.
At its heart, the event supports programs that help people navigate physical, emotional, and mental health challenges through the powerful connection between humans and equines.
There is also something special about the Agape community itself. Every participant plays a role in creating opportunities for healing, confidence, independence, and hope.
Supporters, volunteers, sponsors, families, and participants all share a genuine commitment to helping others. That sense of purpose creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming, meaningful, and fun from the moment golfers arrive until the final awards are handed out.
Building the future together
Par for the Horse is more than a day on the golf course. It is an investment in the future of Agape Riding.
Proceeds from the event help support Agape’s mission while contributing to long-term growth initiatives. Participants got to learn more about that vision and the impact it will have on the individuals and families Agape serves.
While this year’s outing has concluded, its impact will continue through the individuals, families, and communities served by Agape’s Equine Assisted Services programs.
