Beauty has a name that matches her personality. She greets everyone with bright eyes and happy ears, and especially loves working with small children. She really shines out on the trail, growing confidence in the people she serves.

Big Boy is a fun, smart, silly guy. He is always solving puzzles, playing with toys, or looking for attention. He loves to pull a cart, and also serves as the smallest equine member of our hippotherapy team. Big Boy often goes out on mobile visits too because he enjoys going to new places so much.

Cici is a tiny horse with a lot of energy. She loves to run and jump and play with her herd mates. But she is also a rockstar on mobile visits, at special events, and in the virtual classroom. She is willing to partner up if you only ask her to, and she’s eager to do any job well. 

Duke the Dark is, well, the dark Duke in our herd. Simple, straightforward, gets to the point…just like Duke the Dark himself! He is a playful, smart, and willing partner. He loves to know about everything you’re doing, and will gladly perform any task you ask of him. Just remember to tell him how good he is because he loves to hear, “Good Boy Duke!”

Gunner is a sensitive horse with extensive western riding training. He loves obstacle courses and working with riders as they learn advanced skills such as canter, leg yield, and spins. He also knows how to bring it down when he needs to. Gunner is an excellent mirror for your emotions, which lends to his strengths in our equine assisted learning programs.

Look at those long ears! Don’t you love them? We sure do! And JR loves it when people give his ears scritches, rubs, and high fives. He is often the first to greet newcomers, has the patience of a saint, and knows just exactly how much challenge each individual needs to grow. 

Jasper has had many jobs in life, but we think therapy horse is the best one. He is brave, smart, and steady. Combine that with his thick, curly mane and what’s not to love?

Lexi came to Agape from Starting Gaits, a Standardbred second career organization, after many years of racing. While she still enjoys going fast from time to time out in the pasture, she has settled into the slower pace of therapy work nicely. Her favorite part of the job though is trying new skills, like doing obstacle courses and groundwork sessions.

Do you see how Nugget practically sparkles in the sunlight? You’re not imagining things! Nugget has a special champagne gene that makes his coat extra shiny, gives him amber eyes, and you can see mottling–or freckles–on his skin. This golden boy has a shining personality too! He loves attention, and his favorite activities in classes are playing games and doing obstacles.

Porschea is a love bug, and she wants you to know it. Just try to spend time with her and not gently rub her head. She will make sure you spend at least a few minutes stroking her velvet-soft forehead. And she’s just as soft to ride too. After a long career on the Purdue Hunt Seat Equestrian Team, she knows how to help her riders have a good time!

Pretty Boy is intuitive and patient with everyone. You can always depend on him to know when a student needs extra care, whether that is during a riding lesson or a ground lesson. Perhaps this is because he came to Agape from a rescue. Pretty Boy reminds us that sometimes the hardest paths in life lead to the brightest futures.

Prince is a fun and easy mini to work with. He is a favorite in therapeutic riding classes where the student would prefer to walk a mini than ride, but he’s also fun to work with on mobile visits. He knows his job and he’s eager to perform. He is one of our smallest minis, but he’s got a big personality!

Ronja (pronounced Roan-ya) came to Agape with her half brother, Hero. She is the shy sibling, and likes to take her time getting to know new people. She is quiet, patient, and gentle. She is also observant. She will notice when students need a moment to think or feel and always pauses so they can take their time. If you return the favor to her, Ronja will become a dedicated partner and friend. 

Samson is our gentle giant. He carries a lot of responsibility on his big shoulders and he does it so well. He is patient, and will always do what he can to adjust and help his students. He’s not afraid to share his opinions, but that just makes us better partners when we learn how to give back to Samson as much as he gives to us.

Smokey is a very versatile little horse. He often travels with mobile visits, comes to several of our yearly events, partners with students in therapeutic riding that prefer walking with a miniature horse, and reliably builds confidence in equine assisted learning programs. Smokey is a quiet and faithful partner that will help you shine…and fall in love with him.

Sonny is a spunky little dude with lots of ideas to share. During equine assisted learning classes, he will reflect your energy, emotions, and actions better than anyone else. But if you need to clip up and partner up, Sonny is rock solid and ready to work. He is often a spokeshorse at events because he’s so good at meeting new people and going places.

Susie has a coat pattern called varnish that is unique to Appaloosa horses. Don’t you love the speckling of colors all over her coat? Susie is as unique as her coat–she loves helping students grow in their communication skills  in our equine assisted learning programs, she assists in the hippotherapy program, and she brings a spicy enthusiasm to her therapeutic riding students.
