A Part of Something Miraculous

“I DID IT!!!” It’s a phrase that is teamed up with glimmering eyes and a smile that could melt Antarctica.  It’s also a phrase that, most of the time, could never be uttered without the help of our faithful volunteers…without YOU. The time I spent as a volunteer at Agape changed my life.  Volunteerism in general will do that for a person, but seeing miracles first hand is something pretty unique to Agape. Why we “Drive to Ride”

On March 1st we kicked off our 2nd annual “Drive to Ride” campaign, one of Agape’s main fundraising events.  “Drive to Ride” is aptly named.  Our participants demonstrate drive, determination, and courage every day regardless of their challenges, life experiences, or obstacles.  It is our mission to support their efforts and, through D2R you can be part of their amazing journey as well. Our goal this year is to raise $18,000, which is equivalent to the cost of 106  hours of lessons at Agape. Contributions to D2R help support Agape programming for over 1,400 individuals in central Indiana.  These individuals, living,

What news did you miss if you missed Volunteer Appreciation Day?

Agape held our annual Volunteer Appreciation Day on February, March 8th.  We invited over 200 volunteers to attend our event to honor the generous donation of time they have given Agape in 2013.  All of our volunteers are important to our program, and 6 volunteers walked away with an award in hand for showing outstanding dedication (not pictured below is Danny Keough our 2013 Male Volunteer of the Year). After lunch and a wonderful presentation from our volunteer drill team, Agape started a new tradition.  Instead of having our staff vote on the horse of the year, we opened the

Gratitude for our faithful volunteers

2013 concluded our 27th year! Wow. What began as a dream for Cheryl and Dawn Miller in the mid 1980’s has grown into a beautiful and marvelous charity with 19 horses, 15 full- and part-time staff members, and YOU- more than 250 weekly volunteers helping us serve more than 1,400 people. Wow. But this is only because of you – our volunteers. Our name means “unconditional love” and this is our great and special purpose. We feel that the result of serving our riders through the wonderment and connection of a horse creates a strength and a hope that lasts far beyond

Rudolph’s Roundup Agape Christmas

On December 13th, we hosted our annual Christmas celebration for our Agape families and volunteers. It was a great way to unite our families, volunteer and staff members to come together and celebrate! The night kicked off with a visit from Santa riding in on a carriage led by his faithful “mini” reindeer (a.k.a Darby). Santa was also accompanied by his helper , Buddy the elf! Santa rode into the arena and handed out gifts to all of the kids that attended the party. While Santa was visiting with the kids, everyone had the opportunity to try desserts that were
